The Gaslamp Killer is a Los Angeles-based DJ whose eclectic style ranges from psychedelia and world music to dubstep and left-field hip-hop. Associated with Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder Records, he made his production debut in the late 2000s with a series of EPs. Born William Benjamin Bensussen, he originally comes from San Diego, CA, whose downtown Gaslamp District’s bar scene inspired him to name himself the Gaslamp Killer in disgust for much of the patronage.

MM..Food is an anagram of MF DOOM, and the album is loosely food-themed: Doom employs many food-related samples, and many of his lyrical themes are based on food metaphors. It contains several songs which were recorded as early as 2002, some previously released on singles, and a track (“One Beer”) previously released under the name Madvillain and released on another label earlier in the same year. The original cover art was painted by Jason Jagel and designed by Jeff Jank. The paintings contain scenes of MF Doom eating breakfast, mixing chemicals in a forest, and people tied to trees. A bonus disc entitled MM..LeftOvers was released by Rhymesayers and Hiphopsite.com to promote the album. The album was re-released on 24 July 2007 on Rhymesayers Entertainment. The re-release comes with a bonus DVD,Tour Poster, MM..Food sticker plus the sticker on the wrapper packaging smells like chocolate. It should also be mentioned that many of the samples Doom uses on this album are taken from vintage episodes of Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and Superman. An example of this is the hook used in Beef Rapp.

Wat is sziget?
Het Sziget festival is een jaarlijks terugkerend evenement dat meestal in de eerste week van augustus plaatsvindt. Het festival duurt zeven dagen en wordt gehouden op het Óbuda-eiland in de Hongaarse hoofdstad Boedapest. Het Sziget-festival (Sziget is het Hongaarse woord voor ‘eiland’) is het grootste muziekfestival van Europa, en trekt jaarlijks zo’n 370.000 bezoekers.
De eerste editie had plaats in 1993 onder de naam Diáksziget (Studenteneiland). Jongeren kwamen onder het motto ‘een week samen zijn’ bijeen om naar grote Hongaarse artiesten te luisteren. Met behulp van grote sponsors groeide het festival uit tot de grootte van nu. Vooral Pepsi heeft het festival gemaakt tot wat het nu is; Pepsi was hoofdsponsor van het festival van 1996 tot en met 2001.
Het festival staat bekend om zijn vele podia. Naast het hoofdpodium zijn er podia voor jazz, blues en wereldmuziek. Ook is er gelegenheid om naar theatervoorstellingen en films te kijken, en te discussiëren met mede-Szigetgangers in talkshows.
